Kuoma began its operations in 1928, when Juho Puttonen bought a farm with a mill in Kuomiokoski. Over the years, Kuoma has manufactured midsoles and outsoles, heel counters and toe puffs, handles for paint brushes, sport accessories, like elbow pads and motocross gloves, and of course shoes and insoles. FOR EVERYDAY ADVENTURES
First and foremost, Kuoma is known as a high-quality shoemaker. Our most famous product is the Putkivarsi boot, which has been a favourite winter boot for Finns since 1989. In 2019, Kuoma took a big step and expanded its product line with children’s outdoor clothing. You can browse our selection of shoes here (link to shoes’ main page) and kids’ outerwear here (link to kid’s outerwear main page)!
We are proud to be Finnish and want to help create jobs in Finland, and to make our home villages of Kuomiokoski and Mäntyharju busy. Our shoes have been awarded the Key Flag Symbol, which is only awarded to products and services produced in Finland. We believe in producing only the highest quality, and our shoes are made to last. Our boots take 75 different manufacturing steps to make. Read more about our manufacturing process here. (link to manufacturing page)
